Im just wondering how G6 users like their G6 cameras? What are your plus and minus points for this camera (not comparing to SLRs)? Do you recommend? Any thoughts would be helpful.

Love it. I stepped up from a G2 to a G6. Never really got into the extra things on the G2 but have bought filters and converter lenses for my G6. I don't shoot without my wide angle lately. It's a fixture on the camera along witha UV filter.

I absolutely enjoy my G6. But, if I had my way, it would have the newer DIGIC II pprocessor, as well as USB 2.0. I'd really like to see a manual focus ring on the lens of whatever replaces the G6, too. Other than that, I love it, and it can shoot amazing pictures.

I moved from a G2 to my G6, and I'm very pleased. I absolutely recommend it as long as you aren't mainly interested in low-light or sports/action photography. It can perform in both of those categories, but if either of those was your primary goal, there are better cameras (most likely a DSLR--so we won't go there, as requested :)).

There are a ton of good things--here are a few that tickle me:
-The built-in ND filter that you can turn on to increase exposure or aperture
-Bayonet mounting for lens tube adapter (makes it easy to store in a small bag)
-Rotary knob for adjusting focus/exposure/aperture/etc. Really easy once you get in the habit of using it.
Cons:
-The LCD can be hard to see in bright, direct light (often you can shade it easily though)
-No live histrogram in the preview--only after you've captured an image
-Focus--not always as fast as I'd like, and doesn't always find focus. Most of the time it's great, and I think I have most of my problems in macro mode, so that may not even be an issue for you. On the plus side, the camera has a focus bracketing feature which almost always compensates for this--which is really cool, and useful even under other circumstances (not sure where you want your DOF? Turn it on, and choose later).
