My daughter's co-ed soccer team had a game today. They and a team mate lined up to defend against a penalty kick. The defense was successful. The guy in the center took the brunt. We humbled them 10-3.

Erm, no they didn't. They might've lined up to defend a free kick though...

It reminds me of a story my uncle in Canada told me. He'd not long emigrated over there and had been a football referee over here so carried on in his new country.

During one game that he watched the ball went out for a corner kick and as the attacker went to take it the decision was disputed that it actually hit the attacker before going over the line (I hope you're following this?!)

So the referee (not my uncle) ordered the defending side to take the corner!!!!!!

You're right Tigerroar and thanks for the defense PLB.
I still don't understand "offsides". It looks to me like a penalty on a wide receiver for outrunning the corner back and the free safety. Of course I guess what I just said doesn't make any sense to you either.
Sandi, Myth337, KenyC, thanks for looking and commenting.
Sandy, I'd rather be lucky than good sometimes.

Gotta love the expressions, though I doubt the ladies would consider it a flattering capture.;)

Both of them are Curtis. The younger (closer to the camera) laughed herself silly this morning when I showed her the photo. They were chosen for the picket line because of their height. The short one is a good 5-10 and her sister is a long 6-1. Kids that I can look up to

Thanks, for the comments Matty & curtis.

They would probably call it the wall as they are regular players. Me, I just make it up as I go along. :-) Tend to think in military terms. ;-)a
