The sticky notes have been great but I'm soon realizing that, yes, off camera lighting is "3 times harder than ambient lighting" as quoted in one of the sticky notes. One article I've read suggested that one is tempted to get a basic light set and then start learning with it but one doesn't even know what one wants and you won't know until after you've studied it first. I'm wondering if there's a good book that is a great introduction and learning tool that I need to start with? My local B&N has three and my newbiness to studio lighting thinks they all look good, any "standards" out there? And yes, I've been to strobist.com and several other sights which have been helpful.
It is easy to understand with four pages showing how I set up the lights to get the shots that follow, then several images that show a wide angle shot of the entire setup. Then a shot cropped in to show just what should be seen in the actual image. It is an 8.5 x 11 ful color book with 44 pages. PM me if you are interested.
