I drove some of the rural roads this morning in my area. It was a chilly 3F but no wind. I saw this one in a tree soaking up some sun. The first shot was with the 500mmf4L IS. My settings were: f9 @ 1/500 ISO 250. Subject distance was 79.9meters. The second shot was the 500mm w/a 1.4 extender. I used f9@ 1/500 ISO 250. Subject distance was the same. Both images were cropped at 100%. I did not apply any post processing except the crop and save for web in CS4. I know that the first shot is a little soft but I like the second one. I stayed in my car with the engine off and he didn't get spooked until a snowplow went past.
