Even from your position, you may have had the same angle while taking pictures. Plus, in the picture you posted, his camera angle and the bird do not match up. It seems like the bird is way over to his left and that he is taking a picture of something else.

. Did they pull someone out of the audience to take a pic of the owl flying right at them? I got picked last month and got to go on stage for that shot.
