Not to insult another mans pleasure but I just dont get it. There is a park by my house that the Jamacians in town use. I have spent hours taking pictures of them playing and I still dont understand the game. I will add they always seem to enjoy themselves, win or lose.
Now I know how some women must feel when they have to endure their husbands making them watch american football.

We let them have it. It's like when we took the Olde' Mug off you guys. It needs to be handed around once in a while to make things interesting. I think 16 years was quite long enough for us to have it. See if England can retain it that long

How many Americans here are aware that Baseball is a bastardised version of Cricket? Depending on what you read that is.
According to one site I read. It was changed so much because OMG we cant play the same game as them Red Coats. So instead of a pitch you made it a diamond. to tell the truth I used to love playing baseball. I still prefer it today but I don't play and don't get to see enough.

Thanks for the link Big_B it will come in handy. Now if we could get the England National Footy team to beat someone and get to the big show (world Cup), I would be a little more at ease. Way to go England great win...............Joe

I have seen the similarities between the two games. Cricket players use a square wooden bat, hit the ball which is bowled (not pitched) to them and then apparently run back and forth between two sets of sticks in the ground while the fielders (?) catch and retrieve the ball and then do something with it to try to get the batter out. Assuming that is a roughly accurate description, it is all a mystery beyond that. I listened a bit to Radio Australia recently which was broadcasting the Ashes tournament from the UK. I must say that most of what was being said went right over my head.

I wonder why Cricket has never caught on in the states. Although Soccer has been relatively slow to gain an audience here, it is gradually growing as a professional sport. I wouldn't be surprised if the U.S. became a serious international participant in a few more years. But for some reason there doesn't seem to be even an attempt to promote Cricket here.
