I assume you'll use your 50D as well? I say the 16-35mm first - just because the widest you have is 17mm on a crop. Otherwise - I would have said 24-70mm, without a doubt. 24-70mm is pretty much the wedding zoom to have on FF.

How much have you shot at equivalent 16mm on FF? Consider 24 F1.4 mkII.

I would definitely go with the 24-70. I have both and the 24-70 is a much more usable FL. Great walk around lens too. One of my favorites. !6-35 is a bit soft on the corners and way to wide on a FF for a do all lens IMO.

Ill still be using the 50d as a second. Will probably have the 70-200 on that and use the 5d with the wide. And more than likely sell the 17-55.

24-70 is plenty wide on a FF sensor for wedding photography and as chomish commented, it is a more useable FL. The 16-35 can produce some spectacular shots but I find the 24-70 on my camera most of the time and it's the first lens I reach for.

I'd say 24-70L as well, much better use of the focal length because you're not going to be able to get close shots all the time at a wedding. The long end will provide a much better reach.

Get the 5D II as a kit with a 24-105mm (and keep the boxes). As a kit, the 24-105mm will be about $850. If the 24-105mm turns out to be too slow, sell it for what you paid (no loss) and pick up a 24-70mm.

24-70 sounds like the winner. What about weight ? Ive read somewhere its a very heavy lens. And sharpness ?

You already have a 70-200

Between the 16-35 and 70-200, I almost never use a normal zoom these days.

If anything, 24-70 would work better on the 50D as an event photography lens, giving a similar angle of view to around 38-112mm on full-frame.

24-70 on FF hands down... Especially if you're going to sell the 17-55... Then you won't have a normal zoom...

F4 is way to slow...

I say 24-70, 24mm is very wide on FF. I have no trouble getting group shots, even standing 3-4 feet away. 16-35 is too wide imo and definitely not long enough for weddings... at 35mm you'll have to be up in people's faces for most close-ups.

for nprmal everyday picture taking the 24-70 is a great lens much more usable day to day
having said that sometimes its nice to go 'wide' and I really like the 16-35 it is a great wide angle zoom lens
