Just shipped my Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 to CRJ in Duluth, GA for a front focus issue on distant subjects. Anyone have any experience with them? I'm afraid they're not going to find the issue, and just send it back.

I sent an older manual focus lens that was given to me by a family member a while back, and got very good service. They're reasonably fast in terms of assessing the lens, contacting you with the estimate, performing the service, and returning it. I was happy with them and plan to use them again for anything I can't send to Canon.

Good to hear! Thanks for that, Isuber... Hopefully everything goes smoothly, but for some reason, I don't feel like it will.

Definitely subscribing to this thread to see more feedback. They are local to me and I was referred to take my gear to them, yet haven't heard much about them. :) Best of luck with your lens Stamp!

Just got my lens back from CRJ. They said they found the problem and fixed it. Paperwork says repaired focusing, adjusted auto focus, cleaned lens element, and general clean & check.

The filter that I had on it had finger smudges all over it, so after cleaning that, I put it on the camera, and set the MA to 0. It's MUCH worse than when I sent it in. It isn't even close at 17mm, and is somewhat close at 50mm, but still severely front focusing.

Right now I'm fuming mad, and I'll have to wait until tomorrow to talk to Sigma or CRJ. This will be the last time I buy a Sigma lens, and I'll never recommend Camera Repair Japan to anyone.

Oh no! :( I hope they they are able to rectify the problem, they should fix it since you paid them to fix it in the first place.

If you don't mind how much did it cost you to have them take a look at and try to fix your Sigma lens? You can send me a message if you'd like to keep it private.

It was under warranty, so it was free. I called Sigma directly and let them know about it. They paid for overnight shipping to them, and they called me when they got it. I asked if they could just send me a brand new one. Still waiting on them to get back to me. Maybe on Monday.

Crappy. Avoid CRJ, and send it back to the manufacturer. Sigma ended up just replacing the lens, which I then sold as I've lost faith in Sigma products.

I'm new to POTN but had read most people send in both lens and camera for focusing issues...

i just dropped my 7D and sigma 30 with them this morning after trying to manually adjust myself but just couldnt get it perfect.

anyone else sent their equipment to CRJ? i have never sent my camera and lens in before to be calibrated so this is my first time and i have no idea what to expect but i trust they will get my 30 calibrated to my camera so its tack sharp. just hate having to wait to get it done but i do not know what all it actually takes to calibrate it.

Maybe you'll have better luck with them than I did since you are local. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

yea and if they dont do a good job i am physically there to complain until i am happy.

i also forgot to tell them i tried to manually adjust the lens to my camera before giving it to them and didnt change it back. we will see if the girl that answered the phone actually left that note with my camera otherwise im pretty sure it will be WAAAY off focus when they try to calibrate it without putting it back to 0 from +8
