So I created a thread a while back abount minimizing my lens collection and sice I got the 1d I will have to get a couple of more to fill in the gaps.

I just ordered the sigma 12-24 to take care of my wide angle shots, I have the 35L for my fast prime and the 150-500. This leaves a gap from about 40 to 150. (Also have the 17-40, more about that in a minute.)

I was looking at either rebuying the 24-70 or getting the the 24-105.

If I get the 105, that will only leave about 45 in the gap and I wouldn't care about that, but if I get the 70, that leaves a larger gap? Would you fill it in or just call it a day?

Last question, would you think the 17-40 would be useless with my current setup if I get either of those two? The only thing that I was thinking about keeping it would be to use the lee filter kit I have. Whay do you think? Thanks

I would consider canceling the 12-24, selling the 17-40 and purchasing the 16-35ii. You'll have much better opticAl quality and youll still be able to use filters.

Additionally, what do you shoot, these 24-70 vs. 24-105 threads are very common and searching may lead you to the right answer but also telling us what you shoot would help as that way we can make a more informed suggestion.

Additionally, do you like zooms or primes better? Maybe a mid zoom isn't your answer but an 85 kegma?

And then if you bought a 16-35 and the kegma, you'd have a zoom that was almost normal, primes in-between, and a tele-zoom.

I thought about the 16-35, but is just not wide enough.

I like the idea of the 2.8, but I wonder if the length would be more useful, this would be my walk around lens. I didn't think of the kegma. I will look into that one.

I was thinking you just wanted something longer... I personally would walkaround with the 35L on a 1.3 all day...
