Well, I've been selling my Canon XT and lenses on here and I just bought the Canon S95. I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I can't wait!

I sold my Canon XT because I'm a college student and it's not convenient for me to walk around with a DSLR and lens. Of course I'm not expecting DSLR quality from this camera but I've heard great reviews so I'm pretty excited!

Any recommendations or tips for me?

Thanks!

My recommendation is always carry it with you :) It's an awesome fun little camera, IMO.

Have fun, I need one of these to carry around when I don't feel like lugging my bag around.

Do you have your S95 yet? Where did you buy? Everywhere I go has them on backorder.

There are lots of S95's on eBay from reputable sellers. They will all cost over $400 though.

I checked those out. I couldn't even find one that didn't have numerous negative feedback in the past MONTH!

I'm not willing to risk it.

When certain sellers sell hundreds of times a month, it is inevitable they get some negative feedback. Some people are also just, in all respect to them, a holes, especially when online. Since eBay sellers cannot leave negative feedback to buyers, some buyers, in the absence of retaliation, just abuse the animosity of the internet and become royal a holes.

I bought a brand new SX20 back in August 2010 and paid $330.00 with free shipping and a "Buy Now" option from a guy that had sold about 20 of these just before I bought mine. It arrived in 4 days, it was in fact brand new and never had a problem with it. Now, some will say this was a "grey market item". I specifically asked that question to the seller and he assured me that it was not. I decided to take a risk and bought it. I haven't regretted my decision.

There are great eBayers and bad ones. Just like there are good and bad sellers in your hometown. I just checked today and there is no SX20 that sells for $330.00 with a "Buy Now" option and free shipping. They are all more expensive than that. So I believe I made a good deal.

All that to say that you shouldn't be afraid of buying an S95 on eBay if the price is right.;) And the seller is legitimate.

Personally I have never trusted eBay sellers with higher end things like Cameras. Ill just wait for Amazon to get them back in stock.

I went through this a week ago and found one at robertscamera.com but unfortunately it looks like they're out now too... Normally I don't care about buying gray market to save a few bucks but with the price of this I wanted to be sure to have a warranty. Also, if you live near a Best Buy, it's worth checking. They were $370 for a while, now back up to $400. They're backordered on line but a few of the stores had them, I just didn't want to drive far enough and didn't want to pay sales tax so I ordered online. I've never seen one in person in the store so it must be something where they only stock it at some of their stores...

Great camera though, you'll love it! Certainly no SLR but I can't believe how good it is for a P & S
