Looks somewhat like the old VC10 as used as both a transport and AA Refuler by the RAF, both though now out of service AFAIK. The VC10 was being replace by the Tri-Star I thinkit was while I was still in the RAF in the early 90's, thought that they were also repalced in the refuling role as well, having taken that on from the HP Victors.

Alan
PS. As an aside I was lucky enough to fly to Cyprus as an Air cadet in 1980 on a VC10 from Brize Norton, and got to fly back all the way (inc take off) in the jump seat at the back of the cockpit. That was one good day! Much more fun in the cadets for flying though, as I managed to spend 9 years in the RAF and the total amount of time that I spent flying was 6 Mins in a Puma, when I was flown from RAF Coltishall in to RAF Neatishead (Old Air Defence radar station) in the winter of 1987 when we were cut off by snow! What was worse as a member of the ATC I had done a 90min flight in the same ship from it's base at RAF Odiahm.

I know that's a VC-10, but it can also be easily confused with the IL-62.

Good old VC10, RAF still have 16 flying in C1k(10), K2(4) and K3(2) fit. Bloody noisy things though. Was a dispatcher at Brize until 1996, so had a few flights on them, strange sitting facing backwards, as the don't fly slightly nose up like the more modern aircraft.

Ya, it was very loud, cool plane! Why would you guess it is at Nellis AFB in Vegas?

Supporting RAF Tornado participation in either the current Green Flag exercises (air support of ground combat training at Fort Irwin, CA) or else they're here already for the next Red Flag cycle which starts in about a week.
