Can anyone give me the link for the rubber lens hood? Also, when you order one what is the correct size? Do filters fit, or how do they fit with the lens hood?

I want to purchase my lens hood today 4-15-03, need answers to my question.

Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated.

LensMate has them. They are shown about half-way down on this page: http://www.lensmateonline.com/buy.html (external link)

The description should answer all your questions.

Doug in Alaska,

Thank you, that is not exactly the one I am looking for but it is a start. I saw one that has threads in the front for filters.

Do you know how the sizing works? What size do you get, that I am not sure about.

Big Smile,

I bought a 52mm rubber lens hood and put it on Lensmate adapter with polarizer filter. It caused vignetting. From 2filters.com I got a 67mm wideangel collapsible lenshood for my Kenko KNT-20 and Tiffen .75x wide converters. There is no vignetting caused by the lenshood. http://www.2filters.com/prices/products/rubhoods.html (external link)

So I would like to suggest getting wideangle lenshood for all your lenses.

getg3,

Thanks for the link, I am going to order the hood. However, what size do I get for the Tiffen lens. I have the Wide Angle and Telephoto both both 52mm, with 67 front thread. I believe I should get the 67mm but not sure otherwise I would get the 52mm which would fit on the Lensmate adapter.

Can you help me, do I have this correct?

Niloligist,

Yes, get the 67mm one.

getg3,

Thanks, is that for Telephoto and Wide Angle? That is where the problem is for me. Now, do you add filters to the front of the lens hood?

I see some have threads in the front.

Big Smile,

Niloligist,

I use it for both tele and wide angle. Normally, place the filters between the tele or wide angle and the lens hood. To prevent vignetting, you need 67mm slim/thin filters for your tele and wide angle. Those filters are very expensive, almost the cost of the tele/wide angle. That is why I don't put any filter on my converters.

getg3,

Today I am just stupid, explain that to me. The way it sounds is..DUH...

The lensmate converter is on, then you put the lens on, then you put the filters on, then you put the hood on?

If that is what you meant, and I am correct, then it is a longer day than I thought.

Niloligist,

Yes, that is what I meant. Sorry, I did not explain it clearly. Check this Hoya Multicoat Ultra Thin Filters out (no front threads):

I got my rubber lenshood here:

http://www.photococan.com/itmidx1.htm (external link)

It's $4.49 cdn and comes in all sizes. Plus, there is threading for your filters on the other side.

I got a 58mm lenshood, and can attach my 58mm polarizer onto the lenshood.

G3guro,

Sorry, I don't have a picture to show you. It is similar to this one, but no brand and made in Japan:
