Copyright registration question

When submitting photos for copyright registration, does it need to be an exact 'copy', or could I use a smaller JPG copy with my watermark?

I have smaller JPG copies with a watermark for my website, but I actually print from saved TIF files of the same image. Obviously, I could do far more JPGs at once than fewer large TIFs.

There is no "requirement" other than it should be large enough so the detail could be seen. I send my Smugmug sized images (640 or 700 on the long side). I'm sure you could send considerably smaller but I am not about to resize images for just this process although the uploading is very slow.

You don't need the watermark--if anything, it would just obscure the image and perhaps give someone an argument in court. The images can be at least as small as 4x6 and quite heavily compressed.
