LR 2.7 (running as 'Administrator')
Windows 7

I normally add some 'comments' to my jpgs in the Windows Operating System (by right clicking the photo, properties, details, comments, adding a few bits of info about shooting here..), but it seems Lightroom is locking this field for any photo I edit in LR. Even those pics I export via Lightroom as jpeg. The only way I can 'unlock' the 'comment' field again is by either 'copying' the photo (making a simple copy of the photo), or by changing the security for the jpg to make 'users' have 'full access'. Is this a bug, or something to do with me running it as 'administrator', or something else?

Also, whilst on a similar subject, if I add some 'comments' to a jpg (as described above) and then import the photo to LR, then 'export' it (with some changes) the exported copy looses any 'comments' I added. Again, a bug, something to do with me running it as 'administrator', or something else?

I decided to run the program not as 'administrator' and this seems to have solved one problem : the 'comments' field on the original jpg does not become locked.

However I cannot find a solution to the other issue: exporting images with LightRoom still fails to carry over the comments to the exported jpg. Ah well... Guess I'll have to live with it...

Sorry, no clue -- maybe go to the Lightroom Users Forum and put something in as a feature request?

Are the changes you make in the OS even visible in LR? I'd expect them not to be, since once the file is imported, LR doesn't re-read the metadata unless you tell it to...
