When I bought my 50D a few years ago, I stupidly put a glass screen protector on the LCD..

Now, over time, the adhesive is becoming a little milky.. Not a huge problem at this time but I'd like to remove the protector..

I was thinking of warming up the adhesive with my wife's hair drier and sliding it off in one piece..

Does anyone have ideas how I came remove the protector without breaking it and not damaging the LCD screen??

I would try the heating it up with a hair drier then stick a piece of duct tape over the whole thing and peal it off. If the glass does break the tape should hold it all together at least.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Be careful so that you do not warm up the heating holding the cameras own protective glass, otherwise you might loosen that aswell and pull it out with the one you put there.

I have no idea how much it'd affect the LCD glass but you could try nail polisher, WD-40, a razor, windex and I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

I need to remove the glass protector first.. By the looks of it there would be no way I'd be able to get a solvent between the protector and screen..

What I have noticed though, on warm days, I can wriggle the protector around just a little.. That's why I'm thinking heating the adhesive up with a hair drier just enough to slide the protector off..

I figured you might be able to lift it a little with a razor and if you let it sit there the solvent could eat away at it for a little until you could lift the whole thing. The heat thing sounds good but like someone pointed out already, you may pull the glass out with it.

It may be worth ordering another standard fit protector from Canon, they are only a few dollars, and that way if you loosen both protectors you have a new one ready to be fitted. Should the standard protector stay stuck, then you have a spare and don't need to worry about sticking a second protector on to the original protector again. Should the original get damaged you can simply swap it for the spare.

To be honest, I have always found the original fitment protectors extremely resistant to damage and never seen a need to protect the protector, especially as replacements are cheap.

I just use a plastic protector that's worked great so far. Only downside is needing to clean it from the inside from time to time.
