I think you mean it will never stop taking good pictures?

if you have the funds to buy a 5D Mk II now, why get that and start taking pictures? It will server as a great reference point for the future, increase your photo quality potential and lastly, act as a 2nd body when you are ready to buy a Mk III!

If you are worried about the hit the MkII will have in the used market when the MkIII comes out, Buy a 5DC used and sell it when the MkIII comes out. I'm sure the classic is close to bottom for this model

I'd get the II now then wait for the III, see how much its going to cost, let the price come down a bit, make sure there's no 1st run bugs, firmware updates, etc. Also see if there are going to be any snafu's that might be a problem for you, for instance a lot of complaints have been made on the II's low iso banding, which is a snafu obviously for some, but not others like myself. Then after you've had the II for awhile, and the III is confirmed to be the cats meow, sell the II and get the III.There is always going to be a loss in the digital camera world.

Is there something about the II that is making you hesitate to buy it ?

I went from a 40D to a 5D and on viewing my first image on my monitor, said "wow". I've never done that before and I do not think, since. I have a 5DII now. I can imagine if I had gone from a 40D to a 5DII.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

from what i have read on canon rumors, it is not expected in 2011, so at least a year, but how reliable that is, is truly unknown to me. canonrumors.com can give you more information.

Why would you need to upgrade the 5DII?

I don't remember reading that on CR. I've seen that the 1DS IV will be next year, but the 5D3 is due in '11.

Barring the unforeseen I'm ready to pull the trigger when it's announced... :)

Because its only natural to want the newest of the newest? i'd love to get myself a 5d3, but if the improvements arent so great (as in only mp increase, videostuff), then i'll be looking for a used 5d2.
