I doubt it.
Monolights require a pure sine wave inverter. Most of these kinds of devices use modified sine wave converters and put the monolights at risk.

OK so I understand that the lights require a pure sine wave but can someone explain the technical reason why this is? What exactly is it in the strobe that is at risk for damage by using a modified sine wave?

I did a DIY that will power at least 4 strobes all day long

I used this inverter: http://www.amazon.com …ter-Control/dp/B000WGNNUQ (external link)

I used this size battery: http://www.autozone.com …entifier=115786_175927_0_ (external link)

I used this Cart without the insert for 100 bucks: http://www.zuca.com/showroom/ (external link)

You can use any battery and cart you like. I made mine with this set-up for extra power with sturdy portability. Otherwise known as Over Kill

DrDiesel can you post a pick of your actual setup?

Sure. It's not done yet, but I've been using it like this for a while  I plan on putting plastic panels on it to close it in or maybe using the freebie bag that came with it.

This picture shows the unit with my charger and remote control on top. The remote comes with the inverter
Here's the charger info:http://www.batterychargers.com …x?ProductName=94026807ACP (external link)

It runs my 2 AB1600's, 1 AB800, my laptop and a 24 inch monitor for hours on end. The best part is the items are individually warrantied and if one fails, I can just replace that one item. It makes a great light stand anchor too.
I used this battery because it's the same as the one in my car. The charger is attached with velco and can be used for everything else around the house.

I wouldn't recommend anything less that a 1000 watt inverter. Lots of overhead works better for me, but I like over-kill.

Using a square wave inverter can cause damage to some electrical equipment. The voltage that is generated from a square wave inverter does a poor job of approximating a sine wave, and can damage your equipment. The link below has an image of the output of a sine wave and modified sine wave inverter.

Hope this helps,
