I searched for this but didn't have any luck...

Can you xt users tell me what program (if any) you use to tell the number of shutter actuations?

I'd like mac software, but can use windows if mac s/w isn't available.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, from what I've read, there is no way to get the ACTUAL number for the XT without going through Canon. I've tried several exif programs as well to see as well...if you do find a way without using the CHDK firmware lmk ;)

There is a way to estimate it though...quote from an old thread

However, you can estimate the total number of shutter actuation if the following things are true.
1. You are the only owner and you purchased the camera new.
2. You have never reset the image count.
3. You have never plugged in another CF card with an image count higher than the one in your camera
4. You have never removed both batteries. (not sure about this one on the XT)
5. You have always have the file numbering in continuous mode

If those are true, then you can use the folder number -100 * 100 plus the image count. That should get you within a few snaps.
