I think both images work.. I would push the curves/levels on both though to brighten up her skin tones.. Don't be afraid to really push it over the edge on the B&W, it keeps the skin tones from looking muddy....
On the color version, I'd push the satuation up to pop the pinks, but mask off her face so it doesn't look cooked... then pull out some magenta from the skin tones and maybe tighten up the crop, and you'll be good to go..
