Her dress is really insane! And I love the hair on the little blond girl with the strands sticking up everywhere- she's adorable! I hope you got some portraits of her. :)

This has absolutely nothing to do with you but I can't stand it when someone is giving a speech and no one is looking at them! Both from a photographer's perspective and from someone who's given speeches at weddings in the past. Next time you're a guest at a wedding (or in it) look at the person as they speak!

End random rant. :) I'd still love to see the first set of pics again! It does make a difference on that shot of the little girl peaking over the pew!

Stop the presses - I would still like to see THOSE SAME images that were posted before, posted on another server and see them correct. Posting different images, perhaps from who knows where, doesn't prove the original images were technically correct.

1. Cute snap. I would have liked you to be more on their level though.

2. I like the ultrawide. Great that you included her whole dress, and the great architecture. Very solid shot. Hopefully you got a horizontal image as well.

3. I like it. Very cute, pulls the reader in. When you reposted it with new export settings it made me like it much more.

4. I am not a fan of the pose. I wish she was looking over her shoulder maybe? I like that her arm isnt straight, but it looks like her bouquet is acting as a dumbbell and she is doing some reps. If you had her thow it behind her it may be nice.

5. Classic ring shot. Not really new or exciting, and not something I really love, but its a solid shot. I dont think hands are that attractive (Ill admit, i have been guilty of taking photos of hands too). At least it is executed well. If you are going to do a standard shot, you have to rock it = I believe you did it well.

6. Good shot. Nice posing. Solid.

7. I get the idea, but its not one I would have selected. If you are going to do a shot of the glass, you dont need the hand in it. If you are going to include the hand, give more substance to the photo.

8. Nice timing. Cut off his hand which is unfortunate but I dont hold it against you, it happens. I dont think it is the most flattering of the bride, but it was a moment that they will look back on and laugh. I think you did exactly what you could with this image.

Good job. Do these seem soft to anyone... :)

I JOKE, I KID.

Thanks and I did re-upload and post a couple of the ones that were really in question.

Dress looks a bit underexposed; guy with mic has zero catchlights; that kills any photos. The others seem ok.

The white is almost off the scale and really needs detail so I prefer to hold the detail and as for the dads speech I have others that I used gel strobe so there are catch lights though I have never been one to be a stickler for that. Feel of the image will trump technique for me every time.

Allen...you understand you are probably getting criticized by people who have never shot weddings and never shot professionally.

Yeah and thanks for the comments but these guys are cup cakes compared to the art directors and other creatives I have to deal with now.

Jim, what did you think of the work I posted?

I've been shooting professionally for 4 years. I know its not very long compared to some, but my life and job revolve around photography. I work a 9-5 job in a fashion studio, and in my spare time i shoot for myself. I like how you passed judgment without having any facts to go by at all.

Not to mention in this same page i have a post of a bride and groom.

Argo -

In this one, his eyes have a bad shadow across them - and they look slightly soft. What aperature were you using? That may be the cause:

Again, dress shot is a bit underexposed.

In this one, his eyes are black and soulless like a doll's/Shark's eyes - no catchlights=ruined photo:

I like the images as they are. As will the client. Feel of an image is way more important sometimes than technique. As we all know you can have catchlight in a very average image. Both of his eyes are tack sharp. I intentional had his eyes sharp and the background soft. And I said before that shot of the brides father was just one of many that I shot. I also shot some with gelled strobe that there are catch lights in but I will often go for overall feel over technique and if I really wanted to I could pull the faint catch lights out more that are in his eyes in this image. I also thought that I typed clearly that some of these I was on the fence about.

Also the highlights on the dress are up almost 3 stops from zone V which is right at the edge of going off the scale. Detail and holding that detail is very important in this image. The whites are just to the point of being over the threshold. Now you might take them up higher but I'm not going to.
