I originally had picked up the 70-200 F4 IS. I thought this was the sharpest of the 70-200's and had the nicest contrast IMO. The only problem was the F4 and missed a lot of shots because of it.
Wasn't too happy when i got the original 70-200 2.8 and ended up selling it soon after.

After reading what all you guys had to say about this lens i went out and bought it. All i have to say is OMG. I find it as sharp as my 200 2.8 and the IS on this lens is amazing.

Thanks you all for helping me choose this great lens. Amazing!

I really didnt think it would think it worth it since of the price but as soon as the rebates came on i went for it.

If your thinking about getting it, get it. On of the most amazing/sharpest zooms i ever tried from Canon. Even beats the F4 IS wide open which i thought impossible to do when i fist tested both side by side.

So the 1 stop difference saved a lot of your shots? what type of stuff are you shooting? Do you have any samples of shots you got with your f 2.8 that failed with the f4? I'm debating on this switch too, but I'm dreading the size difference, and I dont want to have BOTH lenses. I feel like that would be a waste. thx.

Congrats. I also bought the F/4 and returned it after a week. I'm so glad I did.

Time to update your sig, OP. :D

I love my 2.8 II too! I was also in the same situation as you were. Thought the f/4 IS was the cat's meow, but 2.8 gives me more DOF and better lowlight performance. The price/weight increase was well worth it IMO; the rebates made the decision much easier.

Congrats. I would love 2.8 and/or IS. For now I'll have to live with my f/4 non-IS. Enjoy! :)
