If your scanner can only do 1800 dpi (which seems to be the case for the v500 based upon resolution targets) and you scan at 3600, you'll end up with files that are 4 times a large but with no improvement in resolution. For a medium format image, that's about 70 mb per file vs. 280 mb per file. I understand your point but a 4800 dpi scan delivers better image quality over a 1200 dpi scan. One Imaging Photography
