I recently (about 4, 5 months ago) purchased 7D (switched from Nikon). It was a though decision. It was between 7D and 5D mk2. I ALways wanted 5D. But it was either 7D with a great lens or 5D with not so great lens.
With some of research and talk with few of my fellow friend photographers I went with 7D.
I would be lying if i said I didnt think about 5D and that I have maybe made a mistake.. lol.. but at the time I didnt have the money for the 5D and the lens I wanted...

Anyways.. so now.. I got some extra cash...and here I am with the dilemma again.. I have a little extra so I could go with the 1d mk4..
Can some body give some advice.. which one would u go with? 5d mk2 or 1d mk4?? Owners of both.. please shed some light! LOL!

All help/advice is soooo much appreciate it! Thank you!

How much extra cash do you have (price differences between the models are huge)? Do you want full-frame or not?

I have enough to buy 1D mk4 which is 5k. Well that would pretty much wrap it up if it was only up to full frame or not :D lol

I wouldn't spend more than what's needed. If you are really set on owning a 1D series, then, go for one, but, you could always just buy a 5D2 and save your cash for future or other things. :)

Or better yet, you could just use your 7D for a while and upgrade when 5D3 or something similar gets released. :)

Invest the 5k, and keep what you have. Sorry, I know that isn't what you want to hear, but you said "Help Me".

7D is already a modern camera and you won't need an upgrade. If you have some money that has to be spent on gear, buy some quality lenses. Looking at your gear list, you only have a 24-105 and a 50 f/1.4.

There are many lenses that can give you a lot more creative opportunities than a 1D camera. May be you should set your poll as something like this:

1. 1D4 + 24-105L + 50 f/1.4
2. 7D + 24-105L + 50 f/1.4 + 35L + 100L
3. 7D + 24-105L + 50 f/1.4 + TS-E 24L + 85 f/1.8
4. 7D + 24-105L + 50 f/1.4 + 85L
5. ...

You should really be looking at expanding your gear IMO. Cameras keep changing fast and you'll end up burning your money chasing the latest and greatest.

What does the 7D lack in your opinion? I'd rather spend that 5k on glass.

Save your money. Stay away from the forum and think about what you really need.

Learn from your previous mistake and this time get what you really want, otherwise you may be in the same dilemma as you are now.

What do you shoot and do you really need to move up. Don't believe everything you read. If I had the cash I would go with lenses.

I like to shoot with natural light, but with high ISO w/7D i always get grainy images. I dont like that at all.

I shoot portraits, fashion. Getting into weddings slowly.

@woodworker: u got me there.. lol..
