Very well done and executed. Looks like product shots.

Since you're going to re-do these shots because you want to increase the DOF, consider using a much lower ISO and extending your shutter speed to compensate. There really shouldn't be any reason for the under/over exposures.

But overall, I like the shots as is.

How about we all just end this now?

I like this idea! :D

Ran, I have "those" days, too. It seems like I'm having more of them lately as the economy stays on the rollercoaster.

How's the weather on the other side of the pond? Global warming seems to be covering us in snow and ice over on this side.

Great shots. Amazing IQ at ISO2000.

Nice shots with the black background I always tend to use white for some reason.

I was going to comment then read all the bickering and thought perhaps not, but since the OP is re-shooting I do have some comments to offer. Hopefully they will be useful ;)

Overall I think the shots were well executed. Great job getting separation from the black background and nice reflection achieved. I don't see any apparent noise but my MacBook is not calibrated and I'm not running to the loft to check on the 27".

I personally don't see any need to increase the DOF in the re-shoot, rather I'd open up to f8 and drop to ISO 800 with a shutter speed that gives you the exposure you want. I'd also shoot in manual and not rely on Av, adjusting the shutter accordingly.

The main thing I'd concentrate on is controlling the light reflecting off the front elements, especially the 2nd & 3rd shots. The colours are great, but the white reflections are distracting and really hold the shots back from being ad/catalog quality. A CP filter might help reduce overall reflection but I doubt it will do much to reduce the white reflection. Play around with height & angle of the lamps, and lens position, to see if you can get a camera angle where the lamps aren't reflecting on the element. You can also try flagging to block the light source causing the reflection. Another way might be to light from the back corners and use a reflector to bounce light onto the front. You can move the reflector until you get a reflection that works for you.

Good luck. I look forward to results of the re-shoot.

wow bro... AWSOME C&C!! not only was it not delivered in non douce bag style, but it gave me a lot of things to consider i didn't before :)

my main reason for wanting to use a smaller aperature is i wasn't happy with the numbers/lettering near the rear of the lenses. they looked OOF, or blury or something... i'm just not happy with em'. Like look at the word "SIGMA" on the lens. It looks "off" and I can't figure out why... perhaps its the lighting being a bit too harsh and needs more diffusing? I'll use some more black paper around the the tent for added control. i'm also deff going to cut down the ISO to around 400 and shoot in M

and wow, that was one big run-on sentenaces, horrible abuze of the english language and being were on a internut forum and its highly important i getz everything words corect and with perhaps a lot of inccorrectely speeled wordz and i mey get skolded for it, so i'll stoop now while ahead of me :)

This thread is now a bit shorter. It may not get much longer if the bickering resumes. You can offer advice, but it doesn't have to be accepted. Once it's been offered there's no need to continue to push an agenda.
