Im just opening up a new studio. All im waiting for is the light to be connected hopefully tomorrow after two interruptions this last week. But the advice I wanted to ask from y'all was this. If you plan to shoot primarily families, babies, seniors, and weddings, would you take a glamour workshop or invest in a better lens? The reason I want to attend the workshop is to gain a better understanding of lighting and posing (since I do shoot a lot of strippers) and the reason I want the lens is to use for natural light photos on location for babies and seniors. Both the workshop and the lens are pretty close in cost, so what would the majority of y'all do?

Get the lens, you can't learn a lens into you bag, but you can learn lighting online and with practice...

You have a great lens selection already. If the workshop can generate some portfolio images and new lighting techniques for all your work then its the obvious choice.

A heck of a lot of photographers are making their living with the lenses you already have: 24-70mm 2.8 L/ 70-200mm2.8 L IS/ 17-40mm L/ 50mm 1.8...seriously, you don't need anything else for babies or seniors or strippers. If you can't make a good living with those lenses, you certainly need the education.

Education is invaluable, and direct instruction gets you farther faster than learning from the internet--especially when it's particularly what you need to learn.

Agreed - the lenses you have are great but I can't imagine why anyone hasn't asked which lens you are considering buying.

thank y'all so much. After sleeping on it I decided the workshop was a better choice for me. I was going to be upgrading to a better prime lens for natural light shots. the nifty fifty has a horrible auto focus for some shots.
