How to collage multiples into one?

Ok, I see it everywhere and would like to learn how to put more than one photo together as one print! Like a collage. For example 2 different photos side by side on one print. I'm sure it's easy and can be done in most programs. I'm fairly comfortable with Lightroom 3, I also have Aperture3, Elements 8, and CS5, all of which I have yet to really tackle, although I do perform some edits with CS5. I've looked around LR3 a little and can't figure it out. Thanks in advance!

Lightroom doesn't do things like collages -- you process single images, and then you print according to a template of one or more images, but it it not designed to create one image from different elements of different images.

So, you will need to delve into Photoshop for this! Do a Google search of "photoshop collage" and you will find a ton of tutorials and such.

Using PShop?
Easy.
Open new file. With te size as you want.
Open first photo. Copy and Paste . Adjust it with Free transform. Open the second, Copy and paste, free transform, and so one...
Control + A (to select te entire picture). Control + C to copy, Control + V to paste.
Ah, are you using Mac?, please read Command rather than Crtl.
Using Power Point.
Open new slide. Import picture, copy and transform, import another, copy and transform, and so one....
Finally, save it as *jpeg
Is easyer to do it than tell you the process (specially in my case)

I think what the OP means is simply print multiple images on the same sheet of paper, which LR can do.

LR cannot combine multiple images into one however.

Yes, exactly. Except I don't want to print, I just want to use them for the web. Thanks for the advice so far.

In that case, you'll need to print them to file. Only way to get more then one image "in an image" is using the print module.

A simple solution I found was to use Picasa. Select the pics and select "create collage" from menu and that's it. Plenty of custom options, paper sizes etc to choose from.

LR3 can do it. In the "print" module, you can create a multi-picture photo, like what you see from the kid's school pictures. The photos can be all the same or different of your choosing.

Thanks!! I looked all over for some decent customizable collage software before I finally came to POTN and searched for it. I use LR3 but never thought to create my collage there. It's not perfect, but it works great!

It’s actually a feature in LR3. Go to the Print Module. Just select Custom Package in the top right panels and drag photos where ever you want.

Since you have CS5, spend some time with the right books and get to know it.

Have a look at Katrin Eismann's work; of all the books I have, hers are the best.

There's a little free program I use for simple/cool edits called photoscape. It has a "combine" and "page" feature that can do things like this very easily.
