Great shot; Oh how I miss my 70-200. Wish I had never sold it. Got to be one of the best lens available at any price.

mike, do you set the speedlight at a certain manual setting and the fire it off at the same distance from all the objects you are trying to enhance or do you change the power setting? what is your methodology behind how you light certain objects in the scene?

Thanks guys. I will be sure to take more 'setup-y' shots in the future with the camera etc in the frame haha. That's basically the 'setup' that i was shooting, but I can see the appeal in a setup of the equipment shot as well.

aaron - usually that's about it. I more or less can eyeball it at this point and know what power to turn the flash to depending on aperture, ISO, and the object i'm lighting (different things react different to flash power, e.g. wood vs stone, brick vs plants, and so on)

DISCLAIMER: This is not technically MY set up, as I took a workshop in this technique and the leaders had everything set up, including some electronic gizmo that controlled the size and speed of the waterdrops.

IMAGE: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v167/beadnik/fa8fce92.jpg

I did do some post processing to clean up extraneous water drops and change the colors.

As per welding glass... you might want to try to create a custom profile in LR with DNG Profiler for it. Just like I did with my infra red camera (where the filter is red). That way you can get more WB control. Read more here: http://www.pixiq.com …ting-an-ir-camera-profile (external link) (i.e. instead of adjusting for the red, you need to adjust for that green).

Just saw this, THANKS!

I'll have to read (or watch) more into this when i have some free time to....

They do. But not to the camera's "eye". :) That's when Mike comes into play. ;)
