Got the drop photo bug from seeing great images here and elsewhere ...

Cognisys StopShot kit, custom made "aquarium", flash with color filters through frosted
glass from behind, twin macro flash used to illuminate drop zone, made a mount for the
drip tube using an aluminium profile and stands from my studio flashes, food coloring ...
... and a lot of tweaking ...

Here are some pictures from the first night, not perfect but I'm quite happy I got these
already. Now I need to work on the technique and think of something creative other than
the usual shots that have been done already.

Don't knock what you've accomplished here. I'm not usually blown away by drop photography, but your choice of lighting and colours has produced spectacular results.

Thanks! Yes, I've tried the usual drop photos in the kitchen sink and they do come out quite bland. A bit of colored lighting and food colors make a big difference.

I have to give props to all those who have shared their knowledge online, I've found tons of setup and lighting tips that made it quite easy to get started.

I took a look at the metadata to the last water drop shot you posted and it says that your shutter speed was set to 1 sec. This has to be wrong right? Because I thought a fast shutter speed was needed in order to freeze movement like that.

Not if your room is dark and the flash is fast...

Correct, it's the flash light that freezes the motion. Bulb mode on the camera and a dark room. Flashes on their lowest manual level to get as short burn time as possible.

1D Mark IV and 100/2.8 macro - though the camera model isn't very important for these shots, it can be done with just about any camera as all settings are manual and the exposure is using bulb mode.
