It's kind of embarassing to own a V-drum kit when you're as bad at it as I am. I play the bass reasonably well, that's my weapon of choice, but this drumming business is really hard. No multi-tasking capacity at all.

My first contribution to this thread.

Found the (in)famous Blow Holes in Crescent Beach, FL yesterday. Not the optimal time to shoot (light could have been better and I'd love to see it at high tide) but I made due. I plan on heading back there...many times.

I'm impressed with that cell phone pic... that's pretty wide and decent quality for a cell phone.

Hmm, there wasn't as much magenta in the photo in LR. I removed more of it. Want to see what it looks like here now.

Thanks. I picked up the Tokina 11-16 recently for RE photography I've been doing. I do love it for this sort of shot though.

I have a Droid Bionic. Honestly, I've not been terribly impressed with the camera in it but, I agree, this one is actually decent (for a change).

I wouldn't mind owning a V-Drum myself!

The drummer in one of my bands used that for years, including touring!
Overall drum sound setup was a piece of cake...

I wish our drummer did too ... so we could turn down the volume.

quite awesome,, So you are getting the drops as they fall correct.. how did you pre focus that ??

Seattle - I love those shots and like that one white piece of gum. When you shoot, do you have the lens completely parallel to the drops or do you shoot from an angle like in the setup pic?

Gary - I should have explained more since my setup pic is so crappy. I actually tried catching drops as they fell, but quickly gave that up since getting anything CLOSE to Ander's shots would be impossible. I then tried going in the completely opposite direction with this and shot them going UP. I guess you can't quite tell from the pic, but I used a syringe to shoot a steady stream into the air. Prefocused on the syringe tip and then slide it down a hair on the stand so it was out of the way.

Clever to shoot the drops upwards, would never have thought of that myself.
