Really cool photo of the city pointing down!

Although, it makes me want to vomit. I don't do well with heights.

Nice, Rasidel. Which fisheye? Your 5D? Just got my first 1DX today and am anxious to try it with my 8-15mm fisheye. I'm starting to look for Chicago dates before the end of the year.

thanks, its 7D + the Opteka (Samyang) 6.5mm fisheye (a $300 lens). looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the 1DX!

Rasidel: My only nit-picky comment is that I would've tilted the tripod up a fraction to get less of the balcony and more of the tops of the buildings in. I get it that you wanted to get a pretty much vertical shot straight down so hard not to get some of the balcony in the shot with the fisheye. Great shot none-the-less and yes, I'm being extremely picky :P

thanks for the feedback! a few things - showing the balcony with that curve like that is one of my 'trademarks' I mean it's a style with fisheye type shots I have been doing for a few years now. So that's why you see the balcony in there. Furthermore, I like seeing the wall and the balcony there because if it's not there, it cuts too close to the street and cuts it off abruptly - anyways that's my reasonings there. And I also got some other shots this was not the only one - I just found this to be the most interesting one for this thread.

here is another shot with that similar look of the foreground I was talking about:

Srika, it will be a while before I have opinions of the 1DX other than the huge upset about the AF illumination issue. I'm not one to pixel peep or devote my life to discovery of new equipment ... I just tend use it in the normal flow of my work ... kind of like getting a new hammer: I don't go banging on lots of stuff for several days just to become familiar with it, I have it for when I need a hammer! :-) I will use it along with my 1DMIVs at the concert tomorrow night to get a first impression and to see how much the AF Illumination issue affects my ability to use it ... could be a non-issue at the casino but I doubt it.

so, you're saying you never really learn your equipment? why? these are complicated devices with steep learning curves!

I guess it sounds like that, eh? No, I read the manual, did some Googling, did all the in-camera setup, etc. But I won't spend the next week running around taking pictures and studying them ... I will shoot my usual work with the manual nearby. And I will likely compare images from the 1DX to my 1DMIV images as I process them. My 1DX is my 7th 1D body and the 5D3 is my third or fourth 5D body so I don't start as a tabla rasa! :-) But, no, I don't go through every setting of every option and test it ... as I get experience I will adjust and I do tend to read a lot about others' experiences and opinions both on POTN and the interweb.

[Edit: Lots of the professional sports photographers I shoot with at the casino are still shooting jpegs and don't know what firmware is! Compared with my peers I am an astounding fount of camera knowledge.]

sounds good. I similarly only use the functions I use, I don't go through and try everything out either. If its not a function I have a use for, I mean - I may experiment at some point but if I'm getting the shots I want the way I want, I'll keep going that route - no need to re-invent the wheel.

pffff.... what you need to do is take some pictures of batteries lined up, then post "is my 1DX sharp". It's the first thing anyone should do with new gear;)

^^^ Idea P - now this is the stuff I love! Amazing. May I ask a few questions?

1. How many frames/second do you use? 25?
2. What is the interval between shots?
3. How far does your slider move between shots?

Really would love to try this myself. Brilliant!
