I know the little ones hate to take direction, but had she opened her eyes on this one it would have been haunting. In any event, I like it.

I've seen most if not all your posts of your daughter in this field. From when you were using just speedlights and now with a Rovelight. Your shots have been getting better and better each time. I think this is pretty much perfect. Great job!

Appreciate it, it's really testament to this forum, the generous folk here who help out lead me on this lighting journey.

Very best,

(Is there a way to use a photo from my gallery or do I have to post it again?)

I think you have to post it again.

Maybe only like 2 stops I think? I have a variable Nd filter so I'm not exactly sure but it was well in the lower side. I think it's from 1.5-9 stops and I learned that 9 is waaaay overkill for this application. I was having trouble with focus at the low end.

I had a similar shoot yesterday and used the same setup (I'll post them also if you want). To combat the focus troubles I used an on camera flash's focus assist beam and I think that helped.

Heya,

Took the Rovelight out this afternoon in some bright sun to play with mixing ambient and over powering the sun a bit as fill.

Setup:

Cheetahstand Boom Stand, extended out, counter weight has 4x cans of water in it and some bungees & stakes.
Fotodiox EZ Pro 48" Octa (Bowen's) with both liners in place. No grid.
Rovelight 600B + Yongnuo YN622c via PC Sync Port cable. In HSS mode.
Canon 5Dc + Tamron 90mm F2.8 VC + YN622c + Remote Trigger (Pixel Oppilas) on a tripod.

First image: 1/2000s, F2.8, ISO 100. No lighting at all. This is the ambient light exposure just to show it, a stop or two below normal exposure.
Second image: 1/2000s, F2.8, ISO 100. Rovelight at 1/2 power. So all I added was the Rovelight in the modifier, at 1/2 power in HSS.
Third image: 1/4000s, F2.8, ISO 100. Rovelight at 1/1 (full) power. Dropped ambient light another stop. But kept similar subject exposure by increasing power.
