And so it begins! Here's my quick 2 cents....I know you take a lot of pictures of "the squirt". I was the same way with my two kids. I took 1000's of shots of them over the years as I was learning a lot of the basics. One day it was clear they'd had enough, it was over. No more cooperation They would simply ignore me when I asked them to even look in the general direction of the camera, much less smile! Bribing worked for a while, but not too long. Whats even worse is that it seemed their mission to sabotage the shot! I was fuming and livid much of the time. It was no longer fun. It became obvious that I needed mellow out with the camera. It sucked cause I enjoyed it and wanted to play with my nice gear. Alas, for the last couple years I've been very selective about when I pull out the camera gear. When I do I try to have things planned out ahead of time. It is now more of a surgical strike! Subtly is of the essence. Full on OCF is used less. It's taken some time but I think their annoyance with the camera has waned a bit They are now willing to give me a few minutes on occasion. I still get to play photography a bit and have some nice shots to show for it. So there you have it....thats my story...Just thought I'd share because I very much understand your frustration having had very similar days as the one you described.
Heya,
It's true, it's like they just know and love to see you frustrated. When I'm just using a camera and a manual lens, no lighting, and doing candids playing around, I get all the stuff I want. Whenever her mother wants us to do something setup, the kids always find a way to make it difficult. Such is life.
I'm sure one day I'll miss the frustration.
Very best,
