There is a link to your image on the upper right side of his post.
That was the only way I could figure out what he was referencing.

I don't like this newer way of replying to posts. I don't like having to click a link to understand what someone is referring to in their reply. I preferred when people simply quoted a post and replied underneath...like I have done. The other way seems cumbersome and I tend to just blow past those posts. It's unfortunate cause a lot of times I like to know what people are talking about or which shot they are commenting on. I just thought I'd share my opinion.

I prefer this way also. Otherwise it is too confusing. This is especially true when people are commenting on different photos and the follow each other with no reference.

I don't think it's fair to blame the software when in fact it's people not quoting properly.

I think in a thread like this its helpful to quote the image you are commenting about. In threads where the OP is the only one who has posted images and is looking for comments its much nicer to not have everyone quoting the original post.

And unless I'm missing something, on my mobile device (iPhone) it doesn't display that little post number reference in the upper right corner of the reply. It only shows it on my desktop browser version making it even more confusing. If anyone knows a way to display the reference post # on mobile devices please share!

On any screen smaller than 570px it is hidden. I don't know if chrome extensions work on the iphone but with Stylebot you could easily set .reply_to_info{display: block;}

If threads as helpful as this one didn't get cluttered up by discussions about the usefulness of the forum software it would not be as hard to know what someone was tallking about.......just sayin

I also agree with this.

If you are scrolling through the forum and see a post that you want to comment on, you hit "REPLY". This then ends as the last post in the thread with the reference in the upper-right hand corner.

Prefer to use "QUOTE" but I think "POST TO THREAD" or "REPLY TO POST" may help.

I'm not "blaming" anything, i.e. software. Just voicing my thoughts/opinion. I don't like having to click a link in order to figure out what a poster is replying to or talking about. For me I find it confusing and cumbersome. I prefer to keep internet surfing as efficient as posiblle. Every second counts. Sorry.

Secondly, could you please take a moment to elaborate on the what the protocol is for "quoting properly".

Lastly, while we're on the topic....There sure are a bunch of buttons to click in the bottom righthand corner of each post, i.e. "Like, MQ, Reply, & Quote". I accidentally "liked" your post to my comment, which BTW, I do appreciate actually "quoting". Is there a way to "Unlike" a post?

I was inspired by some of you guys on here and want to try the colored gel studio look. I have a model lined up that wants to come and be my subject. These images are from my test shoot so I would appreciate some c and c so I can have the best possible shoot with the model. Thanks
