Seems like we're all on the same page here. My comments aren't pointed at anyone, just backing up idsurfer cuz he feels alone :)

Hey ... idsurfer is definitely not alone ... I have a somewhat different view about when and where polite and constructive C&C is acceptable, for example, and I am prepared to argue my case. I know that other POTN members may see things differently, however, and am 100% respectful of their arguments on the other side.

And it isn't exactly going to be the end of the world if the argument is never settled and we simply have to agree, amicably, to disagree.

I’m truly sorry you thought I was more aggressive than necessary, I was in no way ‘aggressive’ from my viewpoint, but I would admit to ‘blunt’.

My unfortunate bluntness, due in part to me posting a ‘fact’ you weren’t prepared for. Sorry but ‘nice picture’ is critique.
That was my only point, it’s still true, and I’m still not being aggressive.

BTW if you want to see needless aggression, head over to G&N and tell someone that the rules state they’re not allowed to post their personal opinion on the models. :p
Even though it’s upgolding the rules, even the mods come and join in the attack.

I can understand why IDsurfer felt uncomfortable and I don't think you hit the tone that you intended ... sometimes opinions that would be easy enough to deliver acceptably face-to-face seem very aggressive over the internet.

I do agree with you that 'cool image' ... 'great shot', etc., etc. are actually critique. They are just critique at its fluffiest and least valuable ... although it feels nice when you are on the receiving end..

A genuinely non-C&C response would be 'seen it' or 'noted'.

Just admitting the possibility of awarding (or withholding) a 'like' means that C&C is implicit right across the site.

My first post here folks crushed me.

It hurt so bad. I cried for a week. Started drinking. Talking in my sleep... began drooling. A twitch formed. My left foot started dragging. I formed a hump on my back. Changed jobs to ring a bell at a tall church/clock tower. Did a few movies...

Then I realized it’s just the internet. All’s good now.

Come on ... you have been around POTN long enough to know that these side-discussions are totally the norm. They actually contribute hugely to the character of POTN and make it an interesting forum to take part in. Nobody is requiring you to take part or stopping you from posting your set-ups and your images.

Based on experience, I'd also suggest that the 'on-topic police' are destined to experience huge frustration and minimal success. Nobody (or maybe everybody) owns these threads and the direction they take. I think it's best just to relax and let things take their ordinary course.

Considering I joined Dec 27, 2004, considerably longer than yourself by 12 years? I am aware of off topic chats, but this is not ending! /rant

If you read the most recent posts ... and I can perfectly understand that you might not have felt the need to ... you would have realised that a small disagreement was in the process of being drawn to an amicable close. You are actually dragging this whole thing out.

Anyway ... best thing is you don't even respond to this ... I don't expect it and I will not respond if you do (only in the spirit of drawing things to a close).

I will try again to get this back on track again.

Set up for a time lapse. It was ver windy I set me shutter speed a little to high trying to avoid came shake. The result is the video is a little choppy looking. This is just my third try at a time lapse.

I like that. It would be cool to see one framed like the 15 sec mark from day to night. The Bean one is neat too. My son is going to start school there this fall. I can't wait to come up with camera in hand!

Always appreciate your contributions to this thread, FJ... Labels, video bts, and all... On a side note, may I recommend removing her panty line on her right hip in post? My eyes actually focus at that nuance... Hehe...

:)

Oh wow, good eye. I think I had removed the line a LOT but guess I missed that one.

in the pic I see the 31x31 softbox is neewer, but in the video, I see you shooting with a Glow softbox. I've got a 32x32 neewer, but I've been seeing Glow pop up a lot in my Adorama searches. Which one do you like better? I leave my neewer flat, and not folded back into a circle because I'm afraid it's going to break.

They're essentially the same softboxes just sold by different companies with their brands on the softbox. I agree that it's tricky to fold it back up. Had to google a video on that.

Panty and bra lines always draw attention, unfortunately... I've been a victim of that many-a-times...

I got a couple of recticel 25mm boards from Jewsons:
http://www.jewson.co.uk …ation-2400-x-1200-x-25mm/ (external link)

Covered them in lining paper using wallpaper paste, painted one side with blackboard paint, the other side with white matt emulsion, and followed this video:

The hardest part was finding the 3" gaffa tape in the UK, seems its only really available in the US, I managed to get some from a German company in the end.

EDIT: Took this while under construction:

Thanks for that. I thought it was too good to be true that they were readily available here. I think the project is beyond me. Back to searching....

So yesterday evening I’m breaking down my 32x32, I go to grab the front diffuser to remove it, and it tears from the Velcro. vmad

No way to fix the diffuser as it ripped jagged.
