Ya. Until I replaced my carpet with a hard wood floor, I’d place a few sheets of plywood down then set up the paper/vinyl… whatever to protect the background/floor from damage.

Also carpet would pucker under foot. Way too ugly.

Now I’ve got a nice 19’x36’ area with which to cause mischief.

My wife won't let me tear up the carpet in my studio (aka living room), but I have her convinced to get a sheet of plywood, cut down into 4 2x4 strips (easier to store in my ever shrinking office), and then putting laminate over that (probably a neutral gray wood).

What thickness of wood were you using (1/2, 3/4)?

Definitely if you don't put something hard underneath. I have 4-5 2x4 plywood sheets under there for a temporary hard floor. Pack 'em up when I'm done.

I used 4 half inch 4x8 sheets crossed over each other. Now, the wood floor also serves as a shooting surface too. It’s lovely and the wife loves it so much better than the carpet.

A simple and fast mopping no more vacuuming or shampooing the carpet.

I took the shot when the bird was summersaulting.... :-P

Yes, of course, my canvas print of the bird was upside down to achieve this.
