Tell me what you think. This was mostly an exercise on observing compositional elements and placement.

#2 is the strongest to me. There's something interesting about how the two bicycles are parked the same way. There is an interesting subject and pattern to study here. Unfortunately I don't think this is the best angle and the background, with the retail store, is rather distracting.

#1 and #3 do nothing really for me. I don't shoot flowers but the reds of your subject blend into the reds in the background, and #3 just isn't too interesting. maybe something with the hard angles of the fence, but the photo doesn't really show that.

I like these. Bikes always trigger my happy center for some reason. You have an eye for the vintage look. If you really like that look, save your pennies (and a bunch of hundred dollar bills) and get yourself a Leica. I think you'd really appreciate the look.

Nice shots.

With a list of gear like that, what is your excuse?

I really like the 2nd one.. maybe if it was cropped in a 16 to 9 format and have the middle bike not so centered. Also the reflections in the glass are kinda weird.. considering there is a cutoff at the knees. And the box on the ground on the left is unnecessary.

Thanks for the comments, guys. The thing is, this was street photography, and although I know that I could have done better with angles and portrayal, I only have a limited amount of time before things change. I will try better next time!

As for #3, I included it because I feel it's one of those photos that grows on you. At first glance, it's just a bike. However, once you look closer you notice the smaller unusual details such as the broken blue pedal, the purple rim in the back, the completely bald tire, fake disc brake in the front, and the owners apparent love for electrical tape. Also an interesting touch, the handle bar covers are clear, with pink designs in them.

i get your points about the 3rd bike, and i love your interpretation.. but when i looked at it, i saw none of what you were mentioning. I saw the rails. I saw the building in the back... the cylinder on the left.

had the bike been againts a flat wall.. with maybe a beach in the distance out of focus, maybe a slight vignetting.. i could have noticed the broken blue pedal.. but with all that going on in the shot... it didnt even dawn on me.

Just a perspective from my eye

^^^^ i agree. there is too much detail in the shot for my eye to draw out those cool nuances in the bike
