...for the Dell u2211h that I have on order?

I have an HP Slimline s5150la with that video card. It has only a VGA output. What should I do? Any low-profile video cards that will run on W7 64-Bit and have a DVI output?

Thanks!

I believe that screen has a VGA port on it, so the 6150SE should work out of the box. Have no clue how powerful it is, but if you have any issues you can just turn off some of the animations in Windows 7 to compensate. You won't be able to play HD video that requires HDCP (iTunes, Blu-ray or other content that checks). The card will probably strugle to play more than two HD streams or play modern 3D games too. If you think you need a more powerful card, there are small form factor video cards with HDMI and DVI connectors that you can get.

I know that the screen has a VGA port, but I was wondering whether my card will be able to put out 1920x1080 or not!

I don't play games, and I also don't play any HD because I have a HT for that! All I do is CS5 and LR 3.3, so it should be enough...

The motherboard has a "PCI Express x16" slot... will PCI Express 2.0/2.1 x16 work?

You really don't want to use the VGA output. It's crap.

I don't know about slimline cards but I'm sure they exist.

Why's that? It's all people used for ~15 years, even for professional photo work. I still use it for one of my monitors and the color matches exactly with my DVI monitors.

I was assuming the OP is using a LCD and not a CRT. Besides, I don't think any CRT's were made with digital inputs.

VGA is analog and as such is subject to drift/ghosting/noise. Color is not affected. Both, DVI and VGA connections calibrate well although some LCD monitors have their own internal LUT's which cannot be accessed through the VGA connection.

To the OP... the onboard graphics that you have will work with the monitor so there is no rush to replace it. Try it with the monitor and decide if you need a card with DVI.

Thank you very much! Now I'm running an HP 2009m @ 1600x900 and I have no problems at all.

I better put that money towards a Spyder3 Express/Pro and save for a whole new PC.
