May be it's just me but I think it needs more contrast. She's washed out byt the backlight and you logo is in the way.

Her finger should be off the trigger and the very top of her head is cut off, as well. Loosen the crop on the right side, too. Overall, it's a nice shot, in my opinion!

id say a good bit overdone. A nice dip in the middle of the curves would help a lot. the top of the head is also washed out... and a piece is missing

the white dot on the nose is a clear indication that the lighting is way too hard.

a softbox and or beauty dishes would help here

i came back to read the suggestions again but i guess i am a bit confused, some are saying its too overdone, while others say its lacking contrast.

the lighting i used was a beauty dish and a softbox, the beauty dish did not have a sock on it, but even then i didnt think it was too hard, nothing a little skin softening in lightroom can't take care of.

the crop i felt comfortable with but i can definitely see the merits of shooting a second one a bit less tight.

the only post that has been done is bringing the blacks up a bit in lightroom.

do any more of you guys think the lighting is too hard? should i use a sock on the dish?

You got way too much light wrapping around from the white drop, thats causing the edges to be soft and for the shot to be lacking in apparent contrast.

i set my main light at f8 and my background was giving me f16, i thought as long as the background was 2 stops over it would be perfect, thats what ive been told, how can i prevent the light spill but maintain the blown out background? would placing black boards or flags to the sides of the model work?

I'd just start by turning the power down on the background light. You dont need two stop more to make a white drop white. I dont know that flagging would work too well as the light if bouncing off the of the drop behind her and I dont know how you would flag that.

+1 on that. But it's a great start. Would enjoy seeing more of this.

The lighting seems a little too dominant, it took me a long time to realise the implied nudity due to the lack of edge definition particularly on the hair and shoulders. The eyes look very strained as if lazy/ cross eyed and the extra vissible veins aren't complimentary to the model. Whilst I respect your right to protect your image, the watermark is very intrusive and I can neither confirm nor deny the trigger finger comments due to this. I think there's a nice model there and an interesting germ of an idea but at this stage it just doesn't quite work.

points well taken, next time ill have to figure out a way to keep excess light off the model. i did use a meter and according to it, it should have been fine. guess i cant trust the meter as much as i do.

the background is actually and umbrella that im shooting into, she was maybe 1 foot innn front of it, maybe moving her closer the the camera will alleviate some of the light wrapping around.

i do believe the majority of her face is properly exposed and lit though, as far as the finger on the trigger i am guilty as charged. definitely always keep the finger off until ready to engage.

i will be using this setup for a set i will be doing for a makeup artist to showcase her makeup and hairstyles. thanks for the input

here is an additional sample where i tweaked the contrast, did some D&B to the skin, bumped the makeup a tad.

does the post help it at all or is just a lost cause? i really dig the shot actually and want to give it a good go before i give up on it and start from scratch
