You helped it a little bit, still not enough for my taste though. The wrap light just wipes the edge sharpness and her eyes are too far to the side as well. Reshoot if its an option as you are on the verge of something pretty good.

here is an additional sample where i tweaked the contrast, did some D&B to the skin, bumped the makeup a tad.

before...............after

does the post help it at all or is just a lost cause? i really dig the shot actually and want to give it a good go before i give up on it and start from scratch

I can't see any difference at least not on my iPad. I think you should run with the idea though. No trigger-finger and IMO ditch the huge watermark as it really makes it hard to evaluate the photo. You own the pic regardless.

I don't think it's lack of contrast, looks like flaire from the background being to bright. Personally I like heads unchopped or chopped more.

I think (like others have said) the lighting may be a big too flat, especially with a girl with a gun. My personal opinion is the lighting should look a little more dramatic, since she is holding a gun. Get rid of the obtrusive water mark as well.

Try this...
Loose the soft box, and place the bare flash (with reflector) behind her and aimed at her back. Use Black or grey backdrop behind that. Should add some nice rim to her skin and hair and with the beauty dish on her face the glock should really stand out.

Digital killed the Kodachrome star!
With a list of gear like that, what is your excuse?

Don't know if it's just me, but the marks on her cheek, are a bit distracting, either commit to the make up or leave it out....trigger finger is usually at the ready when the pose is what I like to call an "Action" pose, in other words guns blazing, but she's just holding it, so she should be at the ready, Finger riding the length of the firearm... I'd have to go with fklimek04, lose the softbox and go bare, which will give it a bit of contrast as well....
If you really need the watermark, go a little lighter or better yet, place it where it won't be so distracting, so as not to take away from the photo you want critiqued... great shot tho'...
