Yet another shot from the Catalina invasion. There was an outrigger race taking place the day we were there, with the crews racing from the mainland to the island. Towards the end of the day we saw dozens of these athletes, most of them female, walking around town carrying their oars over their shoulders.

Nice shot. That looks like on long out rigger, must be tough to row.

They didn't seem to be having any problems. They had those things just flying over the water. I would think their arms must have been pretty sore after rowing the thing about 25 miles across the ocean...
