THank you for your comments. Maybe that is a decent compromise. I can give you small websize images of the rest, and if he ever wants more finals made I can do that at the same price.

..he assumed he would get the unfinished images as well

What he assumed is not what he said he wanted, so my answer to him would be "no."

I am doing a favor for a friend. I am photographing 12 models for his website. It will take about 4 hours and I am doing the photography for free, and just charging him 15 dolllars for each finished, edited image he wants to use on his website. He wants 2 images of each girl, so the total cost would be about 360 dollars. Not a lot of money, but as I said it's a favor.

You said you're doing him a favor, which means you define the terms.

THank you for your comments. Maybe that is a decent compromise. I can give you small websize images of the rest, and if he ever wants more finals made I can do that at the same price.

There is no need for a compromise when you're doing someone a favor. You're negotiating how much money you're going to lose...why?

My usual practice is to deliver finished images. The only reason I would deviate from my usual practices would be for more money, not less, so that would not include jobs done as favors.

Thats still not a compromise. Your unfinished work is out there, and you really dont want that.

I understand the point all of you are making. Thank you for your comments.

I told him no.......this is what he wrote. You guys were right.

Just figured I could use the unfinished as extra photos. Of course a "finished" photo is enhanced a bit but from what I have seen of your work, your unfinished photo's are very nice as well I am sure.

You don't have to hand out freebies just because customers ask for them. Policies (and the spine to enforce them) are good for business.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)
