Lol, I used my monopod to hang my camera over the mouth of a dormant volcano (still steam rises and stuff) to take a photo into it.

Some people say that the downside to being a photographer is that you're never in your own pictures. As for me, the warm and fuzzy feeling when someone praises you for that "awesome/amazing/beautiful" shot of them, is a far better feeling than when I hand someone else my DSLR and they take an OOF picture of me :D

back on topic. never thought of doing that. hahaha.

To me it looks like she's adapted her walking stick with some kind of camera mount.. Not a bad idea..

This shot could be taken at Angkor Wat in Cambodia,, BTW..

Years ago [LIke 20] I had a cane pod I gave away to a guy that needed it .
Finally found another one last year .
I used my monopod all the time if for nothing more than moving brush out of way .

Actually I'm doing a review on a gadget that fits over hiking poles that does this. I'll come back to this thread and post a link when it's done. You can get a Rebel with a light lens on it but nothing bigger... or at least I'd not trust anything bigger on it.

I use my monopod as a boom, holding Flash and umbrella or softbox. And as a monopod for my flip cam :)

Looks like a hiking stick(note the six sections), not a monopod.
It might be one of the Trek hiking sticks made for people who want a hiking stick instead of a ski pole, but may be just another multi-section pole adapted for a camera. I doubt it's purpose-built for photography.

It's a proper piece of kit albeit for P&S only. Can't recall where I've came across these before but they were marketed as a piece that would allow you to be in the photo and take it at the same time (w/ a timer function on the camera).
