The use of the word "Gripped" before the camera model designation, as if it made a difference to the results.

And overuse of the word "Awesome" devalues it and makes it worthless.

Exactly my sentiments (on both statements).

what an awesome set of overused phrases. but seriously, without being sarcastic again -- the "gripped" word is so true.

Man, I hate the "gripped" thing too. I'm a defender of gear lists in signatures, as when someone posts a photo I like, it's nice to see what they used to take it...but "gripped" is nothing but showing off. Very weak showing off at that, considering the availability of $40 eBay grips.

On "awesome," though...it's too late, I'm afraid. I'm 28, and even when I was a little kid the word was already completely neutered. I'd read it used in its traditional sense in, say, an HG Wells book, and think "why is he talking like Bart Simpson?"

I wish my 1Ds2 was gripped, then it would be awesome. LOL

I hate the "get any good shots" from the members of the public as you walk through the pits.

No sir/madam, I was standing out in the rain all day with the intention of taking crap shots.

not the most used, but most irritating and pretentious to me: nice "capture"

For wildlife photography I think 'capture' is appropriate.
I stalk my targets, frequent their habitats, get to know their habits and then hopefully I will be able to get some good shots.

Now, if you're shootin' a bowl of fruit however.........

I get that one a lot, but it doesn't bother me in the least. I figure it is just their way of making small talk.

I don't think that is necessarily unreasonable. The intention may be to get 'good shots', but that isn't always the case.

Me too, but It does depend on the context. I don't mind, for instance, "man, this lens is tack sharp." It's the inclusion of "tack" into the phrase as though it's a natural prefix to "sharp" that gets me... i.e. "Why can't I get tack sharp photos?" or much worse, "I would really like this to be more tack sharp."

The fact is that most tacks are rather dull as compared to other things. Sewing needles and pins aren't really very sharp either, but they are generally sharper than tacks. :p
