Thank you, No. 6. I am pleased to see the word being used correctly.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

That's quite amazing.

I should have tried to resist.

'capture' It's been said already but I also find it quite pretentious.

What's wrong with photo?

what is a preferable alternative? nice snap? delicious mix of pixels? LOL!

Oh, I don't know. How about, photography, picture, photo? None of these sound as pretentious as "capture".

AMAZING

most universally overused adjective, inside or outside of photography. It has only been used 780 times already in the first 10 weeks of 2015 on POTN.

Really there ARE some OTHER adjectives. Didn't they teach any of them in school during the last 20 years?!

Overuse of the word 'amazing' is just...amazing!

[edit: Gawd, my wife was watching Glee on TV and within a 5 minute piece of script, 'Amazing' was used THREE times!]

That's just AWESOME! ; D

You must be one of the conspirators who is trying to drive up the usage of 'awesome', which was commented by a number of folks earlier in this thread. :p

However, at present, based upon 2015 posts alone, 'amazing' is included in 787 pages of Search listings and 'awesome' is included in 774 pages of Search listings-- in the first 2.7 months of 2015....so amazing is more abused and misused than awesome. :-(

(I have posted both words in this post, so as to not bias the tabulation.)

Great. Thanks to this thread and some of the most recent posts, I have that "Awesome" song from The Lego Movie stuck in head. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

And even on an incremental basis 'amazing' still beats 'awesome' ... 15 new Search hits on 'amazing' vs. 13 new Search hits on 'awesome' in the past 22 hours. We are now up to 802 amazing vs. 787 awesome . Do we have demographics of POTN users? It would make it even more amazingly awesome to see the age distribution of POTN participants.

But Pekka needs to enhance POTN Search to make more than 990 of Search hits the current limit on counting!

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned. It doesn't annoy me but it's amuzing everytime I hear it: "no flash". I hear this every time I snap family photos indoor. I've explained it every time and they've seen the result photos (turned out fine). Still, year after year, I hear "no flash" every time the shots are taken, LOL. If only they look at the camera and notice that there's no flash attached anywhere on the camera.
