I've seen some very nice watermarks here, but I was just a bit curious about how one would go about putting one on, seeing as the built in function for Lightroom plugins is starting to become a bit insufficient. ;)

It would be nice to not have to open every publishable photo in PS, but I'd like to be able to place a watermark in a suitable place instead of having it in one place for every picture. White text with 60% opacity does not far well on bright areas!

If you want to place it "optimaly" you have no choice to do it 1 by 1.

You can do graphical ones in lightroom. But I prefer the Mogrify plug in for Lightroom. It has a few more options than LR has.

Would it be possible then, to create a watermark logo, save it as a PNG or TIFF, and then apply the watermark to virtual copies with Mogrify?

Yes that is how I do it. I created several watermarks in PS... saved them as a PNG to preserve the transparency. Then you just tell Mogrify what one to use and it will place it for you on export.

I use a few different ones depending on where the image is going. I made a export preset for each one. So I just click the preset I want to use and export and done.

Beautiful, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a ton, I'll pick LR/Mogrify up in a few minutes. :)
