These 2 shots are of my Peace Rose in my garden. I went through and found my best photos. Would appreciate feedback please.

Lovely roses.

In first pic the white cap on left top is distracting. Also try a shallower DOF to make flowers stand out from background.

Before getting into photography as hobby, I loved painting roses. For me leaves were always important part of a single flower composition.

looks like the focus was not on the flowers. first one clearly shows the leaves are in focus while bloom is not.

I like the composition of #2. I find the big rock somewhat distracting -- it's a perfect candidate for content-aware fill!

I don't have Photoshop so I tried using the clone tool with Photoshop Elements. Found out that mulch is hard to clone. ;) I got a great book that's made just for my Rebel T1i and I'm learning a lot so far. Haven't had the chance to test anything out yet but I will soon.
I think the next photos I take will have my subject in focus.

Thanks for pointing that out. That's exactly the kind of cc I need to take better shots.

Second is far better than the first, you have the composition nicely framed. Seeing as it is your yard ;) you can move items that might not compliment the subject.

That would be much easier than trying to clone it out later wouldn't it.

Yep, I take way too many photos of my backyard.lol.but its where I am 99% of the time, so I get to "arrange" compositions, or at least I get the sit on a shrub to get closer

I live in Montana and the growing season is way too short. So I make the most of the warm weather we get and I too take way too many photos of my gardens and flowers. I'll have to upload a few to Flicker when I have more time.

I enjoy your nature pictures so much I though I would show you what Content-aware Fill can do on Elements 9. (Easier than bending down and picking up the rock. :D ). Also tweaked levels just a bit.
