Looks like a typo, unless you have anything to add.

I'd say someone spent a lot of time having a little fun. I enjoy things like this.

Well, I heard they were soon to release a 5.5E, as well. I also heard a new line of "M" lenses will be released in quarter 2 of '06.

I think it could be a brilliant marketing move if they can price it with high end point and shoot cameras. I think a lot of people will assume that since its an SLR it will be more capable than the similar priced point and shoot so they go for the 3000D instead of the S2 IS or Pro1 or whatever is out at the time, now Canon has them in their grasp. Now that they have an SLR they need lenses, they come here for advice on what to buy and we all say in unison L! Thus Canon executives retire in style.

I'm taking pictures of everything, so go ahead and take this place away from me.

5DII, 16-35mm f/2.8L II, ZE 28mm f/2, 35mm f/1.4L, ZE 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8L IS, 580 EX

I remember hearing about this one before.
About last year before the 350D was released, the hot goss was that there would be an entry level model
It's a good idea i say.Mostly because DSLR's are still shockingly expensive compared to film cameras. To all intents and purposes this model (if real) will give results as good as the high end models at a small fraction of the cost.
The lack of RAW capability is (allmost) meaningless judging by the results and comparisons i've done with my 300D.
Also the 2fps is not a problem.Obviously it would be utterly hopeless for difficult sports work but for most sports snapshots it's fine.

If i was just now considering going digital ,this model would be at the top of my list.I don't mind budget models-as long as they give quality images. The missing features can usually be worked around :)

The picture in that article is obviously an EOS Rebel T2 or K2 (film SLR) with "3000D" Photoshopped onto it.
