To me this is the field monitor I've been waiting for. Small, hot-shoe mountable and comes with a hood. Another great feature is a headphone jack, something I wish I had on the 7D.

I've never been a big fan of the LCD hoods, I like to have my periphery vision when I'm shooting as It makes anticipating motion/composition much easier.

No word on price, but it's available March. I'm hoping it's not extortionate, but as it's aimed at consumers it shouldn't be too steep. Anyone else think this will be a good LCD-VF alternative?

Looks interesting. I would have to be below 500$ to have any traction in the marketplace I would think.

Sony's consumer video stuff is reasonably competitive, so let's hope. Of course Sony does on the other hand make some extremely expensive stuff.

It also does "color peaking" which would make focusing way easier.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
