Since I got my mk iv, I changed up my lens selection and now have the following lens'.
Sigma 12-24
Canon 17-40
Canon 24mk II (on the way, should be here today)
Sigma 150-500

Would you keep the 17-40 or get rid of it due to overlap. My next lens would either 24-70 or 24-105 (that is a whole 'nother debate)

If you were to get the 24-70/24-105 and have the 12-24, there's not much reason to keep the 17-40.

You need a good 70-200, something longer than 500, a macro lens, some fast primes.......

I thought about a 70-200 if I get the 24-70, but if I got the 24-105, there really isn't a lot of range that is missing. I would also love to get a prime 500 or longer, but finances don't support that right now or for a while.

Primes, will be getting the 24L tonight, thought about an 85 but we will see. I may get a non-l macro sooner or later, as that would replace my 135L. It would be one extra stop, but it should be good enough. Any other suggestions?

I sold mine and regret it every time I see one for sale. If you are not hard up for the cash, keep it. Believe me,one day you'll wish you had it and when that time comes, you'll be glad you have it!!

However, if you do decide to sell it, shoot me a PM with your price!! I'm in the market for one!!

Why so, they perfectly compliment each other?

Because I own both and cannot imagine just living with one or another. With just 24-70 I am missing on wide end on things like landscapes, auto shows, buildings, with just 17-40 I can't take decent close ups, portrait, or candid w/o putting camera up close into object face.

EDIT: Oops, missed 12-24 mentioned in response. With that I guess 17-40 would be redundant.

Back to the OP's question: since you're asking, sounds like you don't need the funds immediately so why not keep it for a while and see if you use it.

Yeah, I think that is what I am going to do. This will give me time to see which medium lens I want.
