FYI - I've got a EF-D focusing screen (the one w/ the grid lines) for the 40D/50D that I wanted to let anyone local have first dibs on before I post it FS in the next day or two. Looking at $25 for face-to-face sale. ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_Focusing_Screen_for.html (external link) )

This thread has become a Port review. Not much taking about shooting. I come here and see pics from Bri and Andrew. Not that that is anything wrong with that, Just not much to talk about.

Just checking in. Letting those of you that may attend the d-town shoot, I am slowing putting it together. I have 2 fine looking girls, Working on 2 more. Have 3 spots picked out, with Power Even, Also may be a studio shoot in the mix as well.

Nothing Epic like what happened when Presha set up the last one, but I am quite sure those involved will get a chance to run a shoot and make nice pics for your portfolio.

I need to get my inverter back up. A serious problem, but only a few hundred away now!. Kepp you posted, AKf

Yeah and all the chatter in Tagalog is making me have Olongapo flashbacks. Almost makes me want to have a Red Horse or a San Miquel (almost, but not quite).

Depends on the batch. Rumor "back in the old days" when I was in PI was that the alcohol % varied depending on when the beer was made. Hell, there were folks who swore the Red Horse was made with formaldehyde in it too.... so who knows!

so, the thing is, a month ago i almost have the funds for a 5D2 and i see 5D2's in the price range that im looking for. Even Canon Direct store has it. Now, after saving for a few months and i have the money for a used or refurbished 5D2, i cant find any!

This sucks. im set to get a 5D2 and now, Canon doesnt have any used or refurbished units. To get a brand new unit would be another couple of paychecks. This kind of things always happen to me...just my luck.

Just wait it out Dan. I hate the outer points on the 5d. Especially in low light or with an nd filter when trying to step down to strobe at 2.8 or below.

Canon refurbished normally get replenished fast, when I decided to get the 7D it was out of stock then after two days they got the stock...B&H took longer to replenish their 7D body only inventroy.

edit- they seem to have removed 5D2 from the refurbished lis?

yeah, and rumor has it that 5D3 is coming out soon...June announcement and maybe a september release. but i have a project i seriously want to do, in collaboration with a friend of mine. it will be a short movie so another HD video DSLR is a must. and going with a 5D2 would fit the bill only because of the fact that I want that full frame sensor for portrait shots. I want to get the collaboration of the ground as soon as possible. Thats why another 7D would be acceptable, but it would be redundant since i already have a 7D and the only justification i have for myself on getting another body is to get a Full frame or APS-H sensor body. Script is in its final phases but, if the rumors are true...it would be a shame not to wait a few months. but then again, waiting for nothing is a shame in itself.

Yes, they did take it out of their list since they dont have any ETA of new ones coming in stock. I confirmed it when i talked to Canon USA over the phone.

Yagit80/RJ, still holding on to the cash i have in hand so i can pick those light on Sunday! like ive said before, 5D2 funds and light funds are two different entity so rest assured, i will buy your lighting set!

If you want a shoot there I can set it up. I found some less distracting spots where the model can shine. Those are some cool spots though. I spent 2 days last week scouting. I picked up a 3rd girl today. It is slow going but It should be kind of cool for those who choose to participate.

I plan to use my lighting gear and let each shooter use it under my supervision if the choose. I can sppedlight it for them or put on the Big stuff. I have 2400 WS per pop available Portable. I also have 2- 4800ws heads and pack if you want to get stupid!

I need to buy a New Sine inverter (mine old one is Smoked) but the one I need is 500-600 bucks. A buff wont get it with the big stuff. Good looking out for D-town locations.

You do realize the 60d would be much better suited for video right? I mean magic lantern already has the firmware for the 60d and they never even made it for the 7d. Articulating screen and a glidecam would set u off. Then sell the 7d for a 5d mkII or mk3 which is what I did.

Awwwww, then when you spend the paper on the 5d Mkii, the MK III will hit the streets. I know 100% for sure a MkIII is bring used and is supposed to be a real world beater. All the good stuff from the 7d focusing system but the Full frame. Going to be awesome, however if you have followed the development of Magic Lantern (hack firmware for 5d mkII) you know it doesn't work on a 7D the dual Digic 4 processors and firmware was updated and they cant crack it. Been more than a few years already. If the 5d miii is going to run Dual Digic 5 or 6 processors and they continue the current trend to thwart the effort of after market software running on their cameras, the MKIII will not be as successful in Cine as the MKII is now. All because of corporate strategies in Japan (very conservative people the Japaneses are) Olympus just did the same crap, Panasonic is there, and really making waves with a tiny sensor. (Just below RED in the real world for pennies)

Canon has a huge disconnect between Canon Japan and Canon USA. Canon USA is like used car sales men they get what they get and have no real input as to what the feature set is. The do take advise from some pro testers but not too much.

Demographics, and what sells cameras is what they care about. Mirror-less is coming soon for Nikon and Canon. M 4/3 has red like performance in a tiny sensor. Mark my words Mirror-less Pro gear in less than 5 years will be at the top of the digital content creation food chain.

Now as for stills the MKIII will have no equal just like the MKIII
